Dr. Bill Barfield III.


Head Coach

Biography:

Dr. Bill Barfield has coached at EDS for several years, including two years of volunteer coaching the EDS baseball team under Coach Klosinski. He is the father of 3 EDS boys (William‘16 and Reid‘19 and current 8th grader, Sam) and married to his wife Robin. He is a native of Augusta and a well known ENT physician in the CSRA.  He attended Richmond Academy High School and then attended Furman University. He played football and soccer in high school and growing up he also played basketball and baseball. Coach Barfield has over 18 years of coaching experience including football, basketball, and baseball. This will be his 3rd year as Head Coach of the EDS baseball team.

Assistant Coach

Biography:

Coach Featherstone has coached basketball and baseball for the Panthers.  He is an Augusta native. He attended Victory Christian High School in North Augusta and played football, basketball, cross country and wrestled.  He went on to play baseball at East Georgia College.  Featherstone has many years of coaching experience with youth through high school in soccer, basketball, and baseball.  Coach Featherstone enjoys spending time with his family, attending church, as well as fishing and hunting.

Assistant Coach

Biography:

This is first year with EDS Athletics. He will bring passion and commitment to the EDS program. He was born and raised in Mobile, AL where he played three sports in high school; football, basketball, and baseball.  He attended the University of West Alabama, then later transfer to Quincy University where he graduated from. For both colleges, he played wide receiver and running back. He is currently a Patrol Officer for a Security Company here in Augusta Georgia. “This is one of the most important times in their lives to shape their futures. I am overwhelmed by the opportunity to get back to what I love the most and that is working with our children and sharing my knowledge as a previous player. When I needed to get back on the right track, it was the voices of the coaches that cared about me back when I was young, that got me through the challenges and it was because of those coaches.”
