Biography:
Coach Sloan was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and is a U.S. Army veteran with 20 years of service, retiring in 2011 after roles as an Infantryman, Administrative Specialist, and Intelligence Analyst. His military career took him across the U.S. and overseas, including assignments in Germany, Turkey, and Korea, with deployments and exercises in Kosovo, Kuwait, Albania, and Egypt.
A lifelong athlete, Coach Sloan competed in basketball, football, cross country, and golf during his school years, and later played soccer for more than a decade as a goalkeeper in adult and military leagues both in the U.S. and internationally. Since retiring from the Army, he has remained active in local soccer leagues and pickleball.
Coach Sloan brings extensive experience as a coach and official, having served in baseball and soccer roles at the youth, high school, collegiate, and club levels, including head coaching positions with Bulls Soccer Club and international coaching experience in Turkey. He is passionate about teaching discipline, teamwork, and leadership, and is excited to help develop student-athletes at EDS.
Biography:
Coach Melbourne has been coaching at EDS since 2018. She was raised in Augusta and attended EDS through 5th grade before moving to San Diego, California. Kirby played competitive tennis throughout high school and went on to play Division II college tennis for Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. After graduating, she was the assistant tennis coach at Franklin Pierce University and taught elementary school in Keene, NH. Most recently, she spent the last year in Florida, where she worked as a tennis pro for a group offering clinics and lessons for all ages on public tennis courts in the area.
